   Dear Sir/Ms,

   a friend of mine, Professor Hermione Lee, is giving an online talk to the life writing centre at Wolfson College, Oxford & another to the Harry Ransom Centre in Austin Texas about the playwright Tom Stoppard and has asked me to find some illustrations. As a very young boy Stoppard escaped with his family from Czechoslovakia and ended up in Singapore. His mother had to flee a second time when the Japanese invaded. Would you possibly consider letting me use your postcard above when Hermione mentions Singapore? As I say, it’s an academic conference, no money is changing hands. We would both be most grateful.
